SIGNIFICANCE

The Martin Centre strives to continually enhance its reputation as an international centre for research and training in functional linguistics. The Centre plays an active role in pushing forward the development of Shanghai Jiao Tong University's School of Foreign Languages in terms of pedagogy and curriculum, research training, research and international exchange – assuming as it does so its due responsibility for confirming Shanghai Jiao Tong University as a first-class 'comprehensive, research-oriented and international' university.
