The High-end Forum "Community of Common Destiny: Integration of Science, Technology and Humanities in AI Era" Held at SJTU

The high-end forum on "Community of Common Destiny: Integration of Science, Technology and Humanities in AI Era" was held on September 20, 2024 at the Xuhui Campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The forum, which was hosted by the Editorial Board of the Journal of SJTU (Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition), the Multicultural and Comparative Literature Center of the School of Foreign Languages of SJTU and the Australian Center of SJTU, attracted some distinguished scholars in the study of humanities, including Professor Zhang Jiang and Professor Chen Zhongyi and Professor Zhang Xian from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Professor Nie Zhenzhao and Professor Fu Xiuyan from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Professor Dong Hongchuan from Sichuan International Studies University,Professor Ning Qi from Peking University, Professor Zha Mingjian from Shanghai International Studies University, Professor He Chengzhou from Nanjing University, Professor Zeng Yanyu from Hunan Normal University, Professor Wang Ning and Professor Liu Jianjun and Professor Shang Biwu from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

 

 

 

These experts delivered keynote speeches to exchange ideas on new theories, problems and methods on the cross-integration of science and technology and humanities. Zhou Cheng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of SJTU, Chen Zhongyi, member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and professor of Hunan Normal University, Peng Qinglong, chief editor of Journal of SJTU (Philosophy and Social Sciences Edition), addressed the opening ceremony. Professor Shang Biwu presided over the opening ceremony.

 

Zhou Cheng encouraged everyone to exercise their wisdom and ability in the wave of scientific and technological development and interdisciplinary development, and contribute to the independent construction of the knowledge system of humanities and social sciences with Chinese characteristics.

 

Professor Chen Zhongyi pointed out that the discipline of foreign language and literature needed to face up to the impact brought by artificial intelligence, among which the integration of science, technology and humanities proved a key concept for the discipline's transformation and development.

 

 

Professor Peng Qinglong stressed the importance of a community with a shared future for science, technology and humanities.

At the closing ceremony of the conference, Professor Peng Qinglong highly evaluated the forum with its epoch-making significance, idelological thoughtfulness, and high-end conference organization. The participants and the audience agreed that the forum was a great success.
