SFL Holds the 8th Research Methods Training Camp For Graduates
On September 20th, the eighth session of the Graduate Research Method Training Camp for Graduates of the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was successfully held. Professor Zheng Yongyan, Vice Dean and doctoral supervisor of the School of Foreign Languages, Fudan University, was invited to give a report entitled "High-level international Journals in Applied Linguistics: how to select the journal, decide on the title and raise paper quality standards." The lecture was organized by Professor Shang Biwu, Vice Dean and doctoral supervisor of the School of Foreign Languages. Teachers, doctoral students and master students of the school attended the lecture.
Professor Zheng Yongyan first presented the acceptance rate, review cycle, ranking, and other data of high-level international journals in applied linguistics. She then introduced the current hot topics in international applied linguistics field, encouraging young scholars and students to focus on cutting-edge topics while firmly holding onto their own research interests.
In combination with her own experiences of writing and submission, as well as her experience of being an editor-in-chief of international journals, Professor Zheng Yongyan elaborated upon the topic selection, the writing process and some special considerations, and also explained the reasons for rejection in detail. During the exchange session, a number of teachers and students consulted Professor Zheng Yongyan about the problems they had in publishing their papers.
