SFL Holds the SJTU 2023 Summer Forum on Foreign Literature
From July 18 to 20, 2023, the "SJTU 2023 Summer Forum on Foreign Literature ", which was sponsored by the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and hosted by the Editorial Office of Contemporary Foreign Language Studies was successfully held. The forum , which attracted more than 20 experts and scholars from well-known universities across the country, conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the construction and development of foreign literature disciplines, and achieved fruitful results. The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Shang Biwu, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Chang Hui, Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, expressed warm welcome and sincere thanks to the participating experts, introduced the development of the School of Foreign Languages’ disciplines in recent years, and wished the forum a complete success.

Prof. Liu Jianjun from Shanghai Jiao Tong University delivered closing remarks. He first expressed his thanks to the experts attending the meeting, and summarized the wonderful speeches of the experts from three aspects: the challenges of today's scientific and technological development, the creation of foreign literature knowledge learning system, and the particularity of literature, and then put forward his own thoughts on the relationship between science, technology and humanity. He pointed out that humanity in the era of science and technology must have its own unique form, and the relationship between them will be restored from the antagonistic relationship to the integration of humanity and science and technology in the early human society, and mutual dependence and mutual transformation will become an important trend in the development of science and technology in the future.
This forum is a perfect collision of ideas and wisdom. The heated discussion of the participating experts on the construction of foreign literature discipline and the development of periodicals has enhanced the mutual understanding and exchanges among universities in this field, and will certainly play an important role in leading and promoting the development of the School of Foreign Languages’ foreign literature discipline.
