The School of Foreign Languages held a faculty meeting at the end of the 2023 spring/Summer semester.

On the afternoon of July 13, 2023, the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University held a faculty meeting at the end of the spring and summer semester.

Mr. Chen Xianfeng, executive Vice Minister of the Office of Faculty Affairs and deputy director of Human Resources Department of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, attended the meeting and made a special report on "Teacher Ethics Construction and Academic Integrity". The meeting was presided over by Ding Jian, Party secretary of the School of Foreign Languages. Chen Xianfeng explained from five aspects, such as the higher requirements of teacher ethics construction, typical cases of teacher ethics misconduct, the construction of teacher ethics in SJTU,  the construction of scientific research integrity in SJTU, and strengthening the construction of academic integrity.

Chang Hui, dean of the School of Foreign Languages, made a summary of the semester’s work. In this semester, the SFL’s talent training, scientific research, teaching staff construction, social services and other works had been carried out in an orderly manner, and remarkable results had been achieved. The School of Foreign Languages continued to cultivate innovative talents, attached great importance to the construction of first-class courses, and many teachers and students won international and national academic awards; By strengthening organized scientific research, teachers and students’ scientific research ability had been constantly improved, winning the approval of a number of National Projects, which set a new record high in the histroy of the SFL. Attention was on the construction and development of teachers, and the talent plan work had made major breakthroughs, and the structure of teachers had been continuously optimized to provide a strong guarantee for the development of teachers' careers. By relying on professional research advantages, we had contributed to various social service work. The hosting journals had achieved excellent results. He thanked all the teachers and students of the SFL for their hard work, and looked forward to the teachers and students to continue to innovate, do solid work, and advance the work of the SFL to a new level.

Ding Jian introduced how SFL carried out the theme education work of the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Since the launch of the theme education, the Party Committee of the SFL attached great importance to the implementation of the requirements of SJTU, started to learn the spirit without any delay, establish the leading group of theme education work, and bring the advantage of the party branch as a fighting fortress into full play, and fully mobilize the deployment of learning and implementing the theme education work. By combining with the actual situation of the SFL and giving  full play to professional characteristics, SFL carried out multi-form, hierarchical, full coverage of learning.  

At the meeting, the new faculty members since 2022 were introduced. Jin Jing, director of the Administration Office, reported on the administrative work of this semester.

Ding Jian read out the School’s decision on the recognition of advanced learning on “Learning Empowers China” platform in the second quarter of 2023. Chang Hui, Dean of the SFL, and Xing Lianqing and Ren Zhujing, Vice Party Secreatary of the SFL, gave the awards.
