On the afternoon of February 22, 2023, School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University held a faculty meeting. SFL leadership and its members gave the 2022 annual work report and arranged the work of the new semester. Yang Yifan, Deputy Director of Human Resources Department of STJU, Zhao Jian from the Organization Department of SJTU, and all the SFL faculty attended the meeting.

Ding Jian, Party Secretary of SFL, made a report on behalf of the SFL’s leadership. In 2022, SFL has made excellent achievements in studying and implementing the spirit of the Party's 20^th National Congress by overcoming the impact of the epidemic and uniting mental efforts. In the new round of discipline evaluation, SFL has advanced to a new level. The Integrated Reform and Practice of College English "Learning, Teaching and Testing" has been approved as the first Group of Virtual Teaching and Research Office by the Ministry of Education, winning the first prize of Shanghai Teaching Achievements. The German major has been selected as the national first-class undergraduate major. Curriculum and teaching materials construction has achieved fruitful results. Scientific research continues to rise, and the number of national and provincial social science fund projects and high-level papers reaches a record high. Students have received many awards and achieved remarkable results in practical education and employment guidance. The employment rate of students rank among the best in the department of liberal arts. Remarkable achievements have been made in talent introduction. Major breakthroughs have been made in talent plan, and the teaching staff structure has been continuously optimized. The basic organizational structure of SFL’s alumni has been established. The task of alumni donations has been actively carried out. SFL’s ability to serve the society, its reputation, and its influence has been upgraded. In the future, under the strong leadership of the Party Committee of the university, SFL will continue to promote the deep integration of "party building plus teaching and researching”, further carry out the work of "talent cultivation", carry out organized scientific research, attach equal importance to recruiting and cultivating talents, and vigorously cultivate leading talents and outstanding young talents of foreign language discipline, so as to serve the country and society, and make social contributions in accordance with the status of the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Then, Ding Jian, Chang Hui, Dean and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of SFL, Xing Lianqing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of SFL, Tao Qing, deputy dean of SFL, and Zhu Yifan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of SFL, respectively made an annual report on the work in charge, shared the highlights, summarized the experience and achievements, and laid out the prospect of the future. Based on the on-the-spot report, the attendee participated in democratic assessment of the SFL leadership and its members 

Then Chang Hui made specific deployment for the major tasks in 2023.

Chang Hui said that SFL had entered a new stage of development after several generations of efforts. In the future, SFL should strengthen the interdisciplinary characteristics of arts and sciences, promote the construction of the virtual teaching and research office integrating college English learning, teaching and testing, continue to promote the construction of first-class courses, and cultivate high-level international foreign language talents. SFL will vigorously recruit and cultivate high-level talents and young talents, do a good job of talent plan proposing and attach equal importance to recruiting and cultivating. SFL will strive to make breakthroughs in the key laboratory of liberal arts, provincial and ministerial research bases, major research projects, national scientific research achievement awards, etc. SFL will continue to do a good job in social services, and constantly improve the discipline reputation and its influence.
