SFL Students Win the Grand Prize and the Third Prize in the Multilingual Speech Contest
Recently, the final of the 2022 Multilingual International Speech Contest, which was co-sponsored by the School of Foreign Languages of Zhejiang University, the Multilingual Grassroots Teaching Organization of Zhejiang University, the China-Asean Dam Safety Capacity Building Center and the Rural Electrification Research Institute of the Ministry of Water Resources, kicked off as scheduled. The students from the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University performed well. Zhang Zhiyu from German Department of Grade 2021 won the grand prize, and Huang Yuqing from German Department of Grade 2020 won the third prize.
Zhang Zhiyu gave a three-minute speech on the topic of "Recycling Concept in China's Green Development". Starting from the small things around him, Zhang explained China's remarkable achievements in green and sustainable development around the concept of "recycling".
With the TV drama “The Mountain and Sea’s Love”, Huang Yuqing eulogized the great rivers and mountains of motherland, showing her determination to protect the environment and practice green and sustainable development.
The two students made it to the finals among students from 98 universities across the country. During the question and answer session, with their clear thoughts and unique insights, they demonstrated the charm of German language and the tension of the collision of ideas.
During the competition, Ms. Xue Song from the German Department conducted on-site simulation and careful guidance for the two participants. Ms. Sun Qian, Li Tianyi and He Jiahao from the German Department also provided valuable advice and help for the two participants. The two winners expressed their heartfelt thanks to their advisors and students for their efforts.

"Science Popularization in China • Green Development ------ 2022 Multilingual International Speech Contest" is a high-profile and wonderful speech contest in China.
The non-English language contest is open to Chinese college students and high school students, covering German, Russian, French, Spanish and Japanese. The competition involves two stages: preliminary and final. In the preliminary, the contestants are required to choose their own content for three-minute speech video shooting. The final is carried out by Tencent conference live broadcast. After the contestants deliver their speech off-script, the judges will ask questions about the content of their speech, and the contestants will answer the questions in the corresponding language.141 young students gathered together to compete, and more than 2,000 people gathered in the cloud to participate in the event.
