At noon on March 26, Lin Zhongqin, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, came to the Humanities and Foreign Languages Building, and cordially visited the faculty and staff of the School of Foreign Languages and the School of Humanities who have been working non-stop on the front line of the fight against Covid-19. Ding Jian and Qi Hong, Party Secretaries of the relevant Schools, Zhu Yifan, Chen Lilin, Vice Party Secretaries of the Schools, as well as about 20 faculty and staff representatives staying at the schools participated in the activity.

The leaders of the Schools reported the overall situation of the relevant units. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the teachers who stayed at the schools have made concerted efforts to overcome difficulties, and have carried out all aspects of epidemic prevention and control work efficiently and in an orderly manner. In addition to conscientiously conducting online teaching, they have been delivering meals to student buildings, monitoring the physical and mental health of faculty and students without delay, and joining hands with alumni to tide over the special period. Up to now, the faculty and students remained in good condition. The faculty and students of the Schools will continue to strictly abide by the university’s epidemic prevention and control regulations to win the battle against Covid-19.

On behalf of the Party Committee of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Lin Zhongqin expressed sincere sympathy and heartfelt thanks to the front-line faculty and staff who stayed in the schools. He said that despite the overall improvement in the epidemic prevention and control situation in SJTU, it was still imperative to “preventing imported cases and domestic resurgences". He urged teachers to make a point of carrying out personal health protection to maintain physical and mental health and making a reasonable arrangement of one’s study, work and life, while keeping track of the safety of faculty and students on an out of the campus. It was believed that when united, SJTUers will work tirelessly to build an anti-epidemic fortress together and secure the victory of the tough battle against Covid-19.
