On the afternoon of February 22, the announcement meeting of the Dean of the School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was held in Conference Room 300, Yang Yongman Building. Lin Zhongqin, President and Deputy Secretary of the CPC SJTU Committee, Zhang Ansheng, Vice President and Member of the CPC SJTU Standing Committee, Guo Fei, organizer of SJTU Party Committee, as well as SFL’s leadership team and all faculty and staff attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Guo Fei.

Guo Fei announced the appointment decision of CPC SJTU committee, with Comrade Chang Hui serving as the dean of School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and deputy secretary of the Party Committee of School of Foreign languages. 

Chang Hui expressed his gratitude to the university and the school for their trust and cultivation. In the future, he will strengthen learning, continue to respond to the call of the country and the school, seize the development opportunities of the times, work diligently, and lead the teachers and students of the school to realize step by step the development goals of SFL’s "14th Five-Year Plan" , aim to reach a new level in talent training, scientific research, faculty building and social services, and strive to build SFL into a harmonious and beautiful world-class foreign language talent training and scientific research institution to live up to the trust and expectation of the university and the teachers.

Ding Jian, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages, expressed his sincere congratulations to Comrade Chang Hui on his appointment. He said that he would work together with Dean Chang Hui, unite the party and administration, unite all the faculty and staff, unite the development synergy, strive for high-quality development of SFL in the 14th Five-Year Plan, and make SFL’s due contribution to the journey of accelerating the construction of SJTU into a world-class university with Chinese characteristics.

In his speech, Zhang Ansheng expressed his sincere congratulations to Comrade Chang Hui on his appointment, and hoped that Comrade Chang Hui would take this as a new starting point to continue to overcome difficulties, dare to forge ahead and fight hard. On the basis of SFL’s high-quality development, he was expected to lead all faculty and staff to unite together and advance together. At the same time, Zhang Ansheng emphasized that when facing the future, there was a long way to go. He hoped that all the teachers of SFL will keep up with the pace of the university’s development, take advantage of the momentum, and continue to strive.

In his concluding speech, Lin Zhongqin said that in the past few years, SFL made remarkable progress in discipline construction. He hoped that today's appointment ceremony will inspire the faculty and staff of SFL to make persistent efforts and forge ahead. Lin Zhongqin put forward several requirements for SFL’s development: First, continue to deepen the teaching reform, do a good job in the university’s public teaching work to meet the needs of the university’s rapid development; Second, continue to do a good job in the training of foreign language professionals, and do a good job in dual-degree talents’ training mode; 3. Further strengthen the construction of teaching staff, recruit and cultivate more excellent teachers to meet the needs of talent training; 4. Further improve discipline construction, closely integrate with the university’s key disciplines, take the road of interdisciplinary, uphold fairness and keep innovating to push the work of SFL to new heights.
