SFL Student Wins Two First Prizes in National English Debate Competitions
From September 11 to 12, the national final of the 2021 China Universities Debating Championship was successfully held online. Under the guidance of Ms.Dai Rongrong from the Department of Translation of School of Foreign Languages, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhang Peng, a 2020 graduate student from the School of Foreign Languages, and Wu Jingjing, a 2017 undergraduate from the Antai College of Economics and Management, won the first prize in the national final among 120 finalist teams, and Peng Zhang won the the title of "Best Debater”.
China Universities Debating Championship (CUDC), divided into Regional and National Finals, is guided by the China National Committee for Translation and Interpreting Education of the Ministry of Education, and hosted by China Accreditation Test for Translators and Interpreters (CATTI) Management Center of China International Publishing Group. CUDC covers three stages: campus trials, regional finals and national finals. CUDC adopts the British Parliamentary Style, the main form of international English debate competition.
From June 11 to June 14, the 23rd “FLTRP ETIC Cup” National English Debate Competition National Final was held at the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press. Under the guidance of Ms. Dai Rongrong , Zhang Peng and Wu Jingjing won the first prize in the national finals among 128 finalists.
Founded in 1997, the “FLTRP”National English Debate Competition is one of the most influential English debating tournaments in China. This year's competition is hosted by Beijing Foreign Studies University and organized by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, China Language Assessment and Beijing Waiyan Online Digital Technology Co.,Ltd. The competition covers three stages: campus auditions, regional rematches, and finals. The final round was held in "online + offline" mode.
