On the occasion of the graduation and departure of Class 2021, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) launched a series of farewell activities.

On the morning of June 24, SFL launched a “Voyage Out” education event entitled “Motherland’s Prosperity, My Responsibility”. Ding Jian, Secretary of CPC SFL Committee, gave a party lecture to the party members of the graduates, encouraging them to combine their personal strengths with the development needs of the country, to tell Chinese story to the world by giving full play to their professional advantages in foreign languages, and to demonstrate the mission of young party members. Zhang Hongmei, Vice Dean of SFL, and Xi Sunan, the invited organization secretary, and Li Peng, organization secretary of SFL Party Committee, sent messages to the graduates, wishing them to seize the opportunity of Centenary of CPC to temper their willpower and pursue their dreams fearlessly.

On the afternoon of June 24, SFL held a buffet dinner for graduates in the Boya Hall of Zijin Street. Accompanied by dynamic music, guest teachers and graduates walked down red carpets and signed their names on the signature wall in turn. At the beginning of the buffet, Ding Jian made an opening speech, and then Zhang Hongmei, department heads and graduate representatives spoke. Ding Jian and Zhang Hongmei presented the appointment letters to the class directors. The graduate representatives also gave a wonderful cultural performance for the teachers and students present. The event ended with teachers and graduates singing the school song together, and the chorus of majestic SJTU song resounded inside and outside the venue.

On the evening of June 25, the lights along the Huangpu River shone brightly as the "Window of the Bund" once again sent graduation blessings to the graduates. From time to time, the cheers of graduates were heard from the Bund’s sightseeing platform, students at the scene taking photos to capture this wonderful moment.

On the morning of June 26, the 2021 SJTU undergraduate commencement took place at the Fok Ying Tung Sports Center, Minhang campus. Yang Zhenbin, Secretary of the Party Committee of SJTU, Lin Zhongqin, President of SJTU, and other school leaders conferred degrees to graduates. Lin Zhongqin delivered a commencement address entitled “Firm in Faith, Bold in Progress”, and sent heartfelt blessings to the graduates of the Class of 2021.

With deep gratitude and blessings, the graduates of Class 2021 are about to embark on a brand new journey. Wish them to realize their life value in the wide world and create a SFLer’s bright future. They are welcome to come back “home” often, to reminisce about our time together, and to draw a blueprint again!
