On May 14-16, 2021, the 12th Annual Meeting of Educational Linguistics Committee of China Association for Comparative Studies of English and Chinese (CACSEC), which was hosted by Educational Linguistics Committee of CACSEC and organized by School of Foreign Languages of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), took place in Minhang Campus of SJTU. More than 200 experts and scholars from more than 50 universities in China attended the event, which happened online and offline simultaneously. The opening ceremony of the annual meeting was presided over by Professor Shang Biwu from School of Foreign Languages of SJTU.

Zhou Cheng, Deputy Secretary of the CPC of SJTU, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. He congratulated on the opening of the conference and extended warm welcome to all the experts and scholars in the linguistic field.

Professor Chang Hui, Executive Associate Dean of School of Foreign Languages of SJTU, delivered a welcome speech to the guests on behalf of the organizer. He then gave a general introduction to School of Foreign Languages of SJTU, focusing on its progress in discipline construction and its future plans, and expressing gratitude to participants and experts who have always been caring about and supporting SJTU’s development.

Eight renowned domestic experts and scholars were invited to make keynote speeches at the conference. More than 90 abstracts were received, which were organized into 3 colloquiums and 6 panel discussions. 6 chief editors of well-known academic journals such as Foreign languages and Their Teaching and Foreign Languages in China were invited to talk at the Editor-in-chief forum. After strict and serious reviewing from the organizing committee, 7 papers out of a total of 30 were awarded, 2 papers winning first prizes, 2 winning the second prizes, and 3 winning third prizes.

On the morning of the 16th, all the agenda of the annual conference was successfully completed. Professor Yu Liming, Chairman of Educational Linguistics Committee of CACSEC, gave a closing speech, highly evaluating the achievements of the conference and expressing his gratitude for the organizer’s efforts.
